Creating a Newsletter

I am looking to start up a newsletter to email out to our patron’s…does anyone else do this? If so, do you have a link that I can go to and have a look at what you did?

Donna

We found that the Letters tool is not supportive enough for our newsletter needs and use Mailchimp instead. Unfortunately, there is no integration between the two (we even hired a developer to create an integration and it was not successful), so we have to export the lists from TM and import them into Mailchimp as needed.

Thanks for your feedback! What theatre are you from so I can take a look at what your newsletter looks like…do you have a link?

Absolutely! I’m with Theatre and Dance at Wayne (Wayne State University). This is a recent example of one we sent out announcing our single-ticket on sale. Usually we personalize these with dynamic fields for first name and other details but this was a “wide distribution”.

Hi Donna! We don’t have a traditional newsletter that we generate in TM, but we have a new multi-organizational branding called Proctors Collaborative which sends a monthly e-newsletter. We design and send out of InfusionSoft (using TM patron data of course), but I’ve attached PDF versions of a few of them for content/design reference if helpful - they all link to our Collaborative site at https://proctorscollaborative.org/ :

April.pdf (9.2 MB) May.pdf (9.4 MB) June.pdf (5.9 MB)

We do send our subscribers benefit notifications/reminders via TM directly. I’ve attached PDF versions of a couple of those:

Sub Benefit Reminder from TM.pdf (455.1 KB) Sub Reminder from TM.pdf (301.0 KB)

They tend to be simple in design with one column only (which helps with mobile device reading as well). Often, unless it’s a simple text-based message, we design outside of TM and just drop the whole thing in as an image or series of images (still within one column) and just link the pictures to a corresponding marketing web page. I get murky on eblast tech details really quickly, but I believe that the primary issue with image only blasts is that any patrons who have setup their local email client to not show images won’t see anything unless they click the local notification to download images.

If it’s helpful to talk to our eblast builder for nitty gritty details, please feel free to reach out. Rob does all our eblast building and has now designed in TM, AppleMail, GMail, InfusionSoft, Informz and a couple of other programs as well. He understands the tech and marketing pieces far better than I do.

Hope some of this helps a little!

That’s awesome…thank you so much! I will collaborate with my administrator and may get back to you and/or Rob. This gives me a better insight as to what and how to set it up.
Thanks again,
Donna
